It is one of the Taoist Arts, as traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) or acupuncture, with which it shares a common core of knowledge.
For centuries, the Chinese refer to Feng-Shui to design their cities, build their homes and bury their dead. Nowadays, the business world consults Feng Shui masters to make decisions about the location of their offices.

Feng Shui has no relation with any belief or religious practice. It is rather about creating space so as to optimize the flow of energy by positioning in the right place at the right time, the Five Elements that are Wood, Fire, Metal, Water and Earth and ensuring that each occupant of the house knows its favorable directions to benefit from them. The solar calendar is used to study the feng-shui time dimension: this calendar is known as Hsia calendar and this feng shui method is known as San Yuan or Flying Stars. In the Flying Stars map the period 8 starts on 4th Feb 2004 and will end in 2023.
